The Complete U.S. Pharmacist Collection edited by Loyd V. Allen, Jr.
The preparations presented in this collection—15 years (1998-2002) of Allen's monthly column, Contemporary Compounding, from the pharmacy journal U.S. Pharmacist—provide a foundation of available possibilities as well as a starting point for further modification based on specific patient needs and preferences.
Adjustments can be easily made in drug concentration, flavors, preservatives, antioxidants, chelating agents, and buffers to accommodate specific patient sensitivities and requirements and the physicochemical characteristics of specific drugs.
Dosage forms prepared include capsules, gels, inhalation products, injectables, liquids, lozenges/troches, nasal preparations, ointments, creams, pastes, powders, solutions, sticks, suppositories, and suspensions.
